Annual Women's Day Celebration Held at St. James A.M.E.

The Annual Women's Day Celebration, 100 Women in Red, was held at St. James A.M.E. Church in Warren, Sunday, March 4, at 3:00 p.m.  Women in attendance wore vivid shades of red which symbolized many things including the shed blood of Christ and the symbol of a queen.

The program began with the Women in Red Choir processional to the music of We've Come This Far by Faith.

The celebration began with words from Worship Leader Mauretania Hooper of Bethel A.M.E.

Following the doxology, Sister Linda Davis issued a Call to Worship.

A congregational hymn, Bless That Wonder Name of Jesus, was sung before prayer led by Rev. Kent J. Broughton.

The response was given and then followed by a scripture reading by Sister Sharon Wilkins.  Sister Jill Harris issued greetings to all.

Following a selection by the choir, the Occasion was given by Sister Gaynell Jamison.

Sister Beverly Hines led all those who attended in the privilege of making an offering to the Lord.

Evangelist Clarissa Pace
Missionary Lou Lambert introduced the first speaker of the evening, Evangelist Clarissa Pace of Revival Center in Monticello.  Following another choral selection, Paster James Yarbrough introduced 1st Lady LaToya Yarbrough of Powerhouse C.O.G.I.C in Warren as the second speaker for the afternoon.

The messages presented by Evangelist Pace and Sister Yarbrough both centered around the theme of the meeting:  "The Queen in You."  The messages highlighted scriptures of Esther in the Holy Bible.

Following the speakers, an invitation to Christian Discipleship was given.

Remarks were made by the Mistress of Ceremony and the Women's Day Committee was introduced.  The committee consisted of Sister Helen Green, Sister Marilyn Smith, Sister Annie Clary, Sister Linda Davis, and Sister Shelia Jackson.

After the doxology, the celebration adjourned.

Reverend Kent J. Broughton is the pastor of St. James A.M.E. Church, and Reverend James Yarbrough is the pastor of Powerhouse C.O.G.I.C.
