Bradley County Quorum Court Has Short Meeting

Eight of the nine Quorum Court members were present July 21st for the monthly meeting of the Court.  County Judge Keith Neely presided.  Normal business was conducted including review of the financial statement, the Sheriffs report and an update from the Judge concerning road work.  Judge Neely specifically informed the Justices that plans are underway to use the state aid program to pave about 4 miles of County Road #32.

The Judge told the Justices that a grant for $250,000.00 has been awarded the county to conduct repairs to the courthouse.  More money is needed and the county will have to make a decision as to the best use of the money to begin the repairs.  Judge Neely also talked about the need for the county to purchase another bushhog.

Ordinance #693 was adopted to purchase and finance a garbage truck.  The county will borrow about $74,600.00 form First State Bank of Warren.  A grant will pay the balance of some $23,750.00.

Once again the court talked about looking into the possibility of building a new county jail.  Justice Pat Morman asked about the chances of going in with other counties to construct a regional facility or getting a private company to build a jail.  Judge Neely indicated his is looking at possible locations.  There was little comment made by the members and Judge Neely stated it appears the court desires to continue to gather information.  There was no specific request made for the type of information needed.
