Hermitage City Council Awards Mowing Contract

During the regular session of the Hermitage City Council for july, the aldermen awarded the mowing contract for city property and street right-of-ways to H.&A. Lawn.   The cost will be $470.85 for each time property is mowed and $383.25 each time the streets are mowed.  Two other bids were received and both were considerably higher.

The Council also approved to have the police chief's car repaired at a cost about $3066.00.  Lasiter's Garage was the low price.  Two other proposals were received.

The members received the police, fire and water/sewer reports and reviewed the financial statement.  There was discussion of the need to paint the city's elevated water tank.  The cost for part of the work is estimated at $36,000.00 with future work to be completed.

Hermitage is seeking ways to pay a share of a flood mitigation study that has to be done countywide.  The overall cost for the county will run around $8000.00.

There was considerable discussion of the LOFI retirement system.  Hermitage has been told they must pay more into the system to cover retired firemen.  No action was taken and the Mayors Office was ask to look into the matter further and try to find out what other smaller cities are doing.

In final action the Council accepted the resignation of council member Sylvia Esquibel, who resigned due to her work schedule and inability to attend meetings.
