Artwork from 53rd Young Arkansas Artists Exhibition to be exhibited locally


Warren, Ark. - The Arkansas Arts Center, the state’s premiere center for visual and performing arts, State Services program presents a traveling exhibition of artwork from the 53rd Young Arkansas Artists Exhibition. A representation of the creative efforts of young Arkansas artists in grades K – 12 will be exhibited October 6 through October 24, 2014 at the Bradley County Historical Museum.

The Bradley County Historical Museum and the GFWC Warren Woman’s Club sponsor the exhibition locally.  In association with area schools the Young Arkansas Artists Exhibition is presented to the school children of Bradley County each year.  Over 800 students, teachers and art instructors attended the event in 2013 to view the artwork and tour the local Museum.

The works in this exhibition are all selected for presentation in the 53rd Young Arkansas Artists Exhibition conducted at the Arkansas Arts Center in Little Rock and organized in coordination with the Arkansas Department of Education. Teachers from 118 schools across the state submitted 454 artworks for consideration. Members of the Arkansas Arts Educators selected 105 artworks for the exhibition which was on display at the Arkansas Arts Center May 9-July 27, 2014.

Neal Harrington, Associate Professor of Art and Gallery Director at Arkansas Tech University, selected the awards for the exhibition. She selected one “Best of Class” and two “Honorable Mention” awards for each grade level. Monetary awards, funded by Arkansas Children’s Hospital and Mid-Southern Watercolorists, were given to support each winner’s arts program.

The 53rd Young Arkansas Artists Tour is sponsored by Bank of America; The Brown Foundation, Inc. of Houston; Entergy Arkansas, Inc.; Central Arkansas Planning and Development District, Inc.; Nucor Steel, Inc.; Union Pacific Foundation; and Electrical Cooperatives of Arkansas. Arkansas Arts Center programs are supported in part by: the City of Little Rock; the Little Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau; the City of North Little Rock; and the Arkansas Arts Council, an agency of the Department of Arkansas Heritage and the National Endowment for the Arts.
