Mayor Martin Attends Aeronautical Director Retirement

Mayor Bryan Martin was among the many individuals from throughout Arkansas who gathered August 26th in the Governor's conference room at the State Capitol to honor John Knight as he retired as Director of the Arkansas Department of Aeronautics.  Mr. Knight, a graduate of Star City High School, served the State of Arkansas and the Aeronautics Agency for 27 years.  He served as assistant director under former Governor  Bill Clinton and was appointed Director by former Governor Jim Guy Tucker.  He has served under every Governor since that time.

Under Mr. Knight's leadership the City of Warren has been the recipient of several million dollars of grant money that has helped expand and improve the Warren Municipal Airport.  Assistant Director Jerry Chism will serve as Director for the remainder if 2014.

During the ceremony the welcome was given by Clark Mason, the Chairman of the State Aeronautics Commission and remarks were made by Governor Mike Beebe. A presentation was made to Mr. Knight.

Mr. Knight is married to Rose Thornton Knight and has two sons.  Dr. Tim Knight is Dean of the Patterson School of Natural Sciences at Ouachita Baptist University and Todd Knight is the Head Football Coach at OBU.
