Hermitage School Board Elects Officers

During the October 13th school board meeting the Hermitage Board elected the following to service as officers for the coming school year:

President-Russell Richard
Vice President-Daniel Haigwood
Secretary-Mary Hamilton

Superintendent, Dr. Tracy Tucker, gave her report on various school subjects.  She informed the board they now have a new bus approved previously, and that 80 kids are participating in the 21st century grant program at the elementary school.  The program makes an evening meal available to all students age `18 of under.

The annual report to the public was presented and it will be sent to the media.  In other actions the boards approved the minority recruitment plan and the statement of assurances that must be provided the state department of education.

In personnel matters the board hired Matthew Garrett to serve as assistant boys basketball coach.  Mr. Garrett currently teachers and is an assistant football coach.
