The board presented Lance Cobb and plaque in appreciation for his service on the Warren School Board.  They also recognized Dr. Kerry Pennington for reaching Master Board Status.

David King presented a fund-raising project to the board for consideration.  To raise funds for improvements to the Warren Cultural Center, Mr. King and others working with him, asked the board to consider renaming the Cultural Center in honor and memory of Mary Lou and Curry Martin.  He suggested that the committee hoped that renaming the center the Curry and Mary Lou Martin Center for  the Arts might encourage donations.  No action was taken.

The board moved into executive session following one-minute remarks from the individual building principals.  After returning, the board approved the hiring of Hayley White as an ABC Parapro and approved paying Tammy Sanders $45 per report as payment for the overflow numbers she has to handle.  It was noted that the district can not find another speech language pathologist to assist Mrs. Sanders.

The board approved the Change Order for Handicap Accessible Bathroom and Changing Area for Life Skills Classroom in the amount of $41,110.  6B Funds will be used.

The board approved the financial report and then heard the report of Superintendent Marilyn Johnson.  Mrs. Johnson noted that this is semester test week at the high school, that school will dismiss at 1:30 on Friday, December 19.  Teachers will return for professional development on January 5, students on January 6.

The senior girls will participate in a basketball tournament at Camden Fairview and the boys in the Strong Classic during the holidays.

Subscriptions to the schoolway app continue to increase.  The app is being used for a variety of notifications.  Superintendent Johnson expects the app to be a useful tool during bad weather days.

The school is continuing collaboration session via phone with partners from Lindsay Unified School District in California.

She reminded the board that the district has a website home page which has a school calendar.

A parade honoring the 2014 State 4A Football Champions, the Warren Lumberjacks, will be held Thursday evening at 6:00.  It will begin at the Post Office and conclude at the Old Post Office.  Fundraising has begun to purchase championship rings.  Over $3,300 was raised Monday by the ball players at a one-hour road block.  Mrs. Johnson explained the law to the board about how much school money can be spent ($100 per student per sport) for awards.  This included the purchase of letterman jackets, trophies, blankets, etc.  Other championship teams have raised funds to purchase rings in the past.

Mrs. Johnson noted that the football players enjoyed the time they spent accepting donations today as people honked, waved and congratulated them.  It was a way the community could relay their happiness and support.
