Hermitage City Council Meets

The Hermitage City Council meet for their first meeting of 2015 January 20th.  First order of business was to swear in the elected officials for the new term.  Justice of the Peace Alton Richard conducted the swearing in.  He administered the oath to Mayor Alma Harrod followed by the swearing in of new Recorder/Treasurer Kimberly Thomas and Aldermen Carol Bell, Tonya Kendrix and Wade Wolfe.  There remains one vacancy on the Council.

After approval of the minutes of the December, 2014 meeting, the council heard reports from Police Chief Ben Poole and Fire Chief Barry Booker.  Chief Poole stated 18 citations were issued in December and Chief Booker stated there were no fire calls during the month.  Lanette Vines gave the water/sewer/street reports.  She then presented the December, 2014 financial statement.

Due to a mistake in previous appropriations, the council voted to set the Police Chief's salary at $23,034.56 for the 2015 budget year and reset the police salaries and benefits to $72,199.43 for the year.  The vote was unanimous.

The council was provided a copy of the 2014 annual financial statement which has been posted in five locations around Hermitage. Lanette Vines went over the statement.

A report was provided from the Arkansas Rural Water Association regarding the city water tower.
The recent paint job appeared to be in good shape and the city has a one year warranty on the work.

The council adopted Resolution #90 allowing the majority of all Treasurer's duties to be conducted by the Administrative Assistant.  They then voted to buy a new dog trap at a cost of $269.95.

The meeting concluded after a discussion of the items that should be included in a 10 year plan for the water department.
