Mayor Martin attends Arkansas Economic Foundation Lunch

Kristi Prince and Mayor Bryan Martin at Arkansas Economic Development Foundation luncheon

Warren Mayor Bryan Martin was in attendance Thursday March 26 for a luncheon sponsored by the Arkansas Economic Development Foundation held at the Statehouse Convention Center in Little Rock.  The Foundation is a 501(c)(6) nonprofit organization established in 1955 for the purpose of supporting economic development efforts in Arkansas.  The Foundation supports research, site visits, prospect entertainment and recruitment.  Its partner organization is The Arkansas Industrial and Economic Development Foundation which is a 501 (c) (3) organization set up to assist the Arkansas Economic Development Commission.

Several hundred people were in attendance to hear Governor Asa Hutchinson speak and introduce the new Director of the AEDC.  The Governor was introduced by Frank Thomas of Stephens Inc. who serves as Vice President of both foundations.  Governor Hutchinson talked about the need for jobs in Arkansas and what state government will be doing to help.

Mayor Martin was one of several attendees from Southeast Arkansas and was accompanied by Gregg Reep of Warren, who serves on the Southeast Arkansas Cornerstone Coalition which is a regional economic development group for the southeast five counties of Arkansas.  The Mayor sat with Kristi Maxwell-Prince who is CFO of Maxwell Hardwood Flooring of Monticello and part owner of Townsend, Inc. located in Warren. The luncheon was well attended by governmental and business leaders from throughout Arkansas as well as numerous individuals involved in recruiting jobs to Arkansas.

The City of Warren  is deeply involved in  trying to bring jobs to Warren and currently contracts with the Bradley County Economic Development Commission to recruit industry and the Bradley County Chamber of Commerce to recruit retail business.  Both contracts also call for providing assistance to existing business and industry to maintain and grow operations in Warren.
