Youngster Playing On Train Gets Trapped


Monday, March 23rd, around noon a youngster playing on the old locomotive in the city park on Martin Street, some way got trapped and could not get himself free.  The Warren Fire Department Rescue Truck was called and the young man was removed safely.  He was transported to the local hospital to be checked out.  Responding to the scene in addition to the Warren Fire Department was the Warren Police department, city Parks and Recreation personnel and the Bradley County Sheriffs Office.

The youngster trapped was playing around the front bottom of the engine.  He had tried to crawl through a small space between parts of the train.  Once he was safely removed, city staff were investigating if some type additional protection is needed to make sure children playing are unable to get in the same situation in the future.

The old Southern Mill train has been a fixture at the Warren Park for many years and is a popular attraction.
