City Tennis Courts Resurfaced

Tennis Courts, located in the city-owned park on John Scobey Drive, have been repaired and resurfaced.  New nets have been installed.  The work was accomplished utilizing a grant awarded jointly to the City of Warren and the Warren School District.  The courts are available to the public to use, and the Warren High School tennis teams use the courts for their home matches.

Mayor Bryan Martin and Superintendent Marilyn Johnson worked jointly to secure the grant fund through the "Joint Use Agreement", a program funded by tobacco tax money through the Arkansas Department of Education.  Plans call for the lights to be redone, and work has been completed to make the area handicapped accessible.

Other grant funds have been utilized to improve lighting in the Multi-Purpose indoor facility, which is used by Lumberjack athletics, the Warren Band program, and the general public.  Yet another grant will be used to build a new soccer field on Axley Field north of the gym on Seminary Street.
