Ford Explorer Burns in Rural Fire

Thursday morning at 2:23 a.m. a call came in to the Bradley County Rural Fire Department reporting a passenger vehicle fire two miles east of Banks on 278W.  Eleven firemen responded to the call and were on the scene by 2:36.  The vehicle was owned by Yakima Ware of Warren.  According to the fire report, the driver said a deer ran in front of her, and when she tried to miss the deer, she ran off the road.  The car went into the woods and glanced off a tree.  The driver and a passenger walked up te highway to seek help.  When they returned to the automobile, it was on fire.  Banks Fire Department was paged by never responded.  Bradley County Rural was paged and responded with 11 firefighters and two trucks.  The fire had extended into the woods and totally destroyed the Ford Explorer before the fire department arrived.  Estimated damage was reported as $8000.
