Marilyn Johnson Hired by Arch Ford Education Service Coop

Marilyn Johnson was hired Thursday, May 28, by the Arch Ford Education Service Cooperative as the Instructional Leadership Specialist.  She will begin in that position July 1.  Her role will be to provide assistance and support to the superintendents and principals throughout the Arch Ford region.

Arch Ford Education Service Cooperative was established at UCA in 1984 along with 14 other Education Service Cooperatives in Arkansas (also known as ESC's).  In 1988, it was relocated to the former Plumerville School District building located in Plumerville, AR.  The Cooperative serves seven counties including Cleburne, Conway, Faulkner, Pope, Perry, Van Buren, and Yell Counties and serves 26 school districts (in 1985, there were 35 districts), 97 school buildings, about 4500 teachers and administrators and over 47,000 students.  Its governing board is comprised of the serving school districts' superintendents.  It is one of the largest education cooperatives in the state of Arkansas and has a staff of approximately 150 employees.

Mrs. Johnson began her career in education in 1981.  She holds certifications in District Administration p-12, Curriculum Specialist K-12, Elementary Principal P-08, Mathematics 7-12, Reading 1-12, Early Childhood Education p-4, and Elementary K-6.

She began her professional experience in the elementary classroom and has worked her way up through administrative positions, positions with UAM, Assistant Director of TCC SEARK ESC, Assistant Superintendent, and Superintendent of Warren Public Schools.
