The Broken Spoke grocery store and restaurant has changed ownership. It has been owned and operated for some 16 years by Phillip and Donna Young of the Rye community. As of June 1st it has been purchased by David and Robin Young. According to Phillip Young the store has been operated by multiple members of the Young family for many years. The current building is not the original.
A community gathering was held at the store Saturday May 31st to celebrate the years of service by Donna and Phillip and to welcome the latest family of Youngs to serve the Rye community.
The store is a gathering place in the early morning for many residents of the area and those heading to work, especially in the timber woods.
