Four Honored With Carthel Raines Scholarship at SEACBEC


Four students honored to receive the Carthel Raines Scholarship at SEACBEC. The Carthel Raines Scholarship is in honor of Mr. Carthel Raines, an educator, and the late husband of former SEACEBC director, Audrey Raines. In order to receive this award, students must be a high school senior from Hermitage, Rison, Warren or Woodlawn; they must also have been enrolled in 6 semesters at SEACBEC with four of the six semesters in a specific program of study, a genuine need for financial assistance, GPA of 2.50 or better, a composite score of 18 or above, active member of a student organization and be enrolled in a full – time post-secondary training/college following high school. This year’s recipients are as follows:

 Bethany Tapia, a Hermitage student at SEABEC, is a medical completer, a business completer, a member of FBLA, Student Council President, and a member of the Beta Club; she will attend SAU Magnolia in the fall.















Sean Bass, a Rison student at SEACBEC is a Student Council President, Beta Club, Spanish Club, Science Club, FBLA, FCCLA, Gifted and Talented Fellowship of Christian athletes, Boys State Delegate. Sean was also on the Track team, member of the Weightlifting team, and he plans to pursue a degree in Pre Medicine Chemistry at UALR in the fall.












Naquisha Newton, a Warren student at SEACBEC is an Accounting completer, Digital Communications completer, Business completer, member of FBLA, Student Council President, Career Club, Bible Club, Beta Club, Drama Club, Spanish Club, Band, National Honor Society, Character Education coach and ROTC; she will attend UAM in the fall.

oshua Parton, a Woodlawn student at SEACBEC, is a Welding completer and a member of Beta Club; he is NCCER and OSHA certified, and a Skills USA member. Joshua will be attending UAM/Crossett in the fall.
