Financial Course to be Offered

Pine Bluff, AR – A Financial Management class taught by University of Arkansas Family and Consumer Sciences Agents is open to all Arkansas residents on Saturday, August 1, from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.  Sessions including Budget Development, Money Management, Wise Use of Credit, and Consumer Protection will be held at the Jefferson County Extension Office, 500 South Idaho Street, Pine Bluff.
Cost of the class is $20 and it is approved by the United States Bankruptcy Trustee as a financial education program and complies with the laws enacted under the Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act (BAPCPA).  A Certificate of Debtor Education will be presented to bankruptcy filers who bring picture identification, bankruptcy case number, and attorney’s fax number.

Lead FCS Agent, Mary Ann Kizer, Jefferson County, stated, “Our team recently received the Extension Excellence Diversity Team Award of $5,000, certificates, and a trophy for providing over 250 Certificates of Debtor Education for bankruptcy filers.  We provided financial management programs for Department of Community Corrections, ACCESS, ADC Farm Managers, STAND, University Professional Women, Alpha Kappa Alpha, and local schools”.  FCS Agents, Jane Newton, Lincoln County; Diane Clement, Cleveland County; and Michelle Carter, Bradley County, round out the team.
