Judge Bruce Anderson Announces Intention to Seek Election

Judge Bruce Anderson announced his intention to seek election as District Judge for Bradley and Drew Counties in the 2016 election to be held March 1.  He has served 10 years as a Bradley District Judge.  In 2014 the Arkansas Legislature changed the District Judgeship to a full time position.

"I have enjoyed serving as District Judge because it allows me to have a positive impact on people's lives.  For the last 10 years I have presided over a variety of cases as Bradley County District Judge that range from traffic violations, domestic issues, criminal and drug cases.  I feel my experience, not only in the court room but in my legal practice as well, makes me a natural choice for this important position.  If elected I would like to create a workable program to assist victims of domestic violence.  By reaching out to both private and public agencies we might be able to help break the chain of physical and psychological abuse that so often destroy families.  I would also work with the County Judges and Mayors to institute a program to help collect old fines  Fines are an important source of revenue for our Cities and Counties and those that are unpaid, if collect, could be used to improve our local infrastructures and impact our quality of life."

Judge Anderson has had a general law practice for 33 years.  During that time he also served as Deputy Prosecuting Attorney for the Tenth Judicial District for 15 years and worked closely with law enforcement by advising them how to investigate cases and assisted in the preparation of search warrants.  He has served as President of the Southeast Arkansas Legal Institute and as a law clerk and Special Master for the Pulaski County Circuit Court.  Judge Anderson was appointed to the Arkansas Supreme Court Committee on Criminal Practice and served for 6 years.  He was also elected to serve as a member of the House of Delegates of the Arkansas Bar Association.

Judge Anderson has been married to the former Lou Anne Ederington, a native of Warren, for 35 years.  He and his wife are members of the First United Methodist Church where he has served as a Lay Leader and Chair of the Finance Committee and the Administrative Council.
