Superintendent Acklin and his wife are now living in Warren, and he indicated they were very happy to be here.  He said Warren Schools have a great reputation, and he wants to make it run smoothly and continue to get better.  In his remarks he stated that he realizes there has been some confusion concerning 'Standards Based Education" efforts, and the district needs to communicate better and address the issues.

Mr. Acklin gave an update on the upgrade of school facilities during the summer.  He said Eastside is undergoing major renovations and the football stadium lights and visitors bleachers are being improved and made safer.  He also talked about upgrades to the fieldhouse and plans for a new soccer field.  He thanked Mayor Martin and the City of Warren for working as partners with the district on getting grants to make some of the improvements.  He went on to say the school district and city have a wonderful partnership.

The Superintendent said that if kids are always made the priority, things will be done right.  He said he looked forward to living and working in Warren and the Warren District.
