Dec. Howard Butler, Sr. Memorial Book Fund

Mrs. Jimmie Butler  Continues to Honor Her Husband's Work.
A large crowd gathered at the Community Room of the Warren Housing Authority Saturday August 22nd to fellowship, raise funds to help young people and to celebrate the life of the late Howard Butler, Sr.  The theme of the day was, :Empowering Young Minds For A Brighter Future."  The biblical verse used was Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ which strengths me."  The mistress of ceremony was Mr. Butler's granddaughter Sabrina Flood.  A memorial candle was lighted by Mrs. Jimmie Butler and the children of Mr. Butler.

Prayer was rendered by Rev. Franklin Furlough and scripture was read by Kolby Hadley.  An instrumental solo was performed by Jalen Flood and words of inspiration were spoken by Lady Helen Matheney.  A mime dance was performed by Titonia Flowers and a blessing on the meal was given by Elder Freddy Flood.  Another solo was provided by Dorothy Butler and encouraging words were spoken by Lady Shaneil "PJ" Yarbrough.  Elder Samuel Butler graced the audience with a solo and Viki Wanye provided the keynote address.  Rev Rodney Matheney provided closing remarks and Mother Jimmie Butler thanked all who contributed and took part.  A wonderful meal was served.

Howard Butler was an outstanding citizen of Warren having took part in civic affairs for his entire adult life.  He was a pillar of the Power House Church of God in Christ.  Known as a hard worker and loving family man, Bro. Butler was an advisor to several Warren Mayors and always provided sound and godly advice.

Former Warren Mayor Gregg Reep spoke of his friendship with and appreciation for Bro. Butler and what the Butler family has meant to him.  District Judge Bruce Anderson was present and thanked the Butlers for their love of young people and support for helping them receive an education.

Due to the large crowd there was talk of having to hold future memorials in a bigger venue.
