Three Awarded Single Parent Scholarships

The Bradley County Single Parent Scholarship Committee Awarded scholarships to three local single parents Thursday, October 8, and held a reception to honor them.  Receiving scholarships were Kasey Fox, Maria Cannon, and Lacy Henwood.
Kasey Fox receives Entergy Scholarship from Tandy White.

Kasey was awarded the Entergy Scholarship which was presented by Tandy White of Entergy.  She is a double major in Accounting and Marketing at the University of Arkansas at Monticello where she is on target to graduate in December.  The ceremony was attended by Kasey's mother, Amanda West.
Maria Cannon receives scholarship from Mrs. Pat Rauls, President of the Bradley County Retired Teachers' Association.

Maia has already completed her Associate's degree and is working on her bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice.
Lacy receives scholarship from Mrs. Pat Rauls of the Bradley County Retired Teacher's Association.  Other retired teachers in the photo left to right are Bettye McGhee, Mildred Brazeel, and Freddie Lipton.

Lacey is working toward a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration.  She has earned the President's Award twice by having a 4.00 GPA.

On hand for the presentations were members of the Bradley County Retired Teachers Association:  President Pat Rauls, Freddie Lipton-Scholarship Chairman, Bettye McGhee, and Mildred Brazeel.  The Retired Teachers donate to the Single Parent Scholarship Fund.

Members of the Single Parent Scholarship Committee present were Marsha Harton Cooper, Emily Van Der Zwalm, Fran Van Der Zwalm, and .

Field Director Beverly Chapel welcomed the guests and recipients and spoke about Single Parent Scholarships, explaining that money raised in Bradley County is awarded in Bradley County and is matched dollar for dollar.  She noted that the scholarship is also open to men.

Emily Van Der Zwalm told those gathered that the next fund raiser for the scholarship will be held at Easter when the committee sells Boston Butt Roasts.
