7th Annual Polar Plunge for Special Olympics

UAM and Weevil Pond will, again, play host to the 7th Annual Polar Plunge for Special Olympics Arkansas (SOAR) fundraiser. The plunge will take place at Weevil Pond on Saturday, February 27th.

To participate in plunge a minimum of $50 per team member or individual is required to be able to plunge. Awards will be given to all participants based on the amount of money each person raises. Trophies/plaques will be presented to the individual and team who raise the most money. There will also be a costume contest with awards given to the individual and team with best costume. UAM Greeks and student organizations have always been huge supporters of Special Olympics and we truly appreciate all volunteers.  Thirty percent of the total money raised from the plunge benefits athletes from Area 12 (Ashley, Bradley, Calhoun, Chicot, Cleveland, Dallas, Desha, and Drew counties). The contribution/registration form is attached to this email.

Registration for the plunge will begin at noon, awards will be announced at 1:30 pm, and we will plunge immediately following the awards.  Please remember that shoes must be worn by all plungers.

There will also be a dessert auction held before the plunge. All money raised from this dessert auction stays in Area 12.  If anyone would like to donate dessert items, please let me know so I can give your contact information to the dessert auction coordinator. This dessert auction is open any and every one.

Too chicken to plunge? You can be a part of the fun too. Official “Chickened Out” long sleeve t-shirts will be on sale for a $25 donation.

Reminder: athletes and coaches must be on site at a fundraising event (does not have to plunge) if that organization plans to receive financial assistance to any Special Olympics event from Area 12.
