Brief Quorum Court Meeting Held

With eight of the nine Justices present, the Bradley County Quorum court took little time in moving through a short agenda during the February 15, 2016 meeting.  After quick approval of the  financial and sheriff's office reports, the JP's heard an update on the status of courthouse renovations and were informed by the county judge that work was about to begin on County Rd. # 2.

The Court approved a revised budget for the year 2015 and adopted a resolution approving a bond in the amount of $5500.00 for the county transfer station.  The agreement is between the county and the state to assure compliance with regulations governing the solid waste system.  The county is not out any money up front but pledges to give up $5500 of turnback money if found out of compliance.

Justice Bobby Hargraves asked about the status of the county audit.  County Clerk Karen Belin indicated that the court would have to respond to any comments of the audit at a later date.

Justice Eddie Parnell questioned the plan to look into a generator for the courthouse.  Judge Neely said that preliminary information quoted a cost of over $100,000.00, which he felt was high.  He indicated efforts will continue to research options for a generator.
