Firemen's Ball Recognizes Heroic Efforts

Fireman of the Year Daniel Robinson and his wife Ashley
Approximately 200 people, one of the largest crowds in recent years,  filled the Warren Country Club Saturday night, January 30 to attend the Fireman's Ball.  The event is held annually to raise funds to support the Warren Fire Department to allow them to purchase additional equipment beyond the City of Warren' budget.  At the event, guests are treated to a steak dinner, may take part in a live auction, can make a donation in order to have their names placed in a drawing for a gun, and firemen are honored with awards and recognition.

Fire Chief Howard Edwards announced the following service awards:
   Ricky Rodriguez
   Shawn May
   Roy Delases

Chief Edwards, with the assistance of Clint Horn, presented recognition awards to six firemen who in the past year entered a burning house in an attempt to rescue two individuals inside.  Those firemen were:  Nathan Moore, Daniel Robinson, Jerry Ashcraft, Ricky Rodrigues, Josh Belvedresi, and Larry Hays.

Chance Bradley was recognized for having the highest attendance to the 178 fire calls received in 2015.

Daniel Robinson was honored with being selected by fellow firemen as Fireman of the Year.

Fire Chief Howard Edwards and Officer of the Year Jerry Ashcraft
Jerry Ashcraft was honored as being named Officer of the Year.  Chief Edwards noted that Officer Ashcraft was largely responsible for the containment of the Words on a Shirt (former Martin's Department Store) building on Main Street.

Following the awards presentations, several items were auctioned.  Judge Bruce Anderson, Kevin Kitchens, and Doug Bigham won the auctions.  The auction was followed by a dance.
