School Board Members Voice Support For Turf

During a recent called meeting of the Warren School Board, three of the members were not present. At the meeting the board voted to authorize plans to raise money for the installation of artificial turf on the school's football field.

Each of the members present have been contacted by salineriverchronicle.com in an attempt to determine their position on the vote taken.  Board members Angela Marshall, Joel Tolfree and Board President Jerry Daniels all explained the reasons they were unable to attend the called meeting.  All three had family or work matters they had to attend to and could not be present.  All three told SRC they supported the vote approving the plan to install turf.  Each one indicated, had they been in attendance, they would have voted "yes" on the motion.

Plans are underway to raise the money through contributions and advertising to pay for the new turf.  The vote of the school board pledges to continue putting the same amount of money in the budget for the field annually, as has been spent each year to maintain the existing grass field.  All other funds will be raised from private sources.
