Power House Church Celebrates 84 Years

Power House Choir
The Power House Church of God in Christ spent several days celebrating it's 84 years of service to God and to the community of Warren during the last week, culminating with an inspired service Sunday evening September 4, 2016.  A large crowd joined Pastor, Dr. James D. Yarbrough and his wife, Evangelist LaToya Yarbrough in praising God, singing and hearing the preaching of Evangelist Dayle Jones of Toronto, Canada.

Serving as Master of Ceremonies was Elder Kenneth Trotter.  Taking part in the program were Elder Terry Correll, Minister Denzell Brown, Sis. Carolyn Powell, 1st Lady LaToya Yarbrough, Elder Jerry Butler, Sis. Anita Shaw, Sis. Yolanda Rainey, Elder James D. Yarbrough, the dPower House Praise Team and the Power House Anniversary Choir.  Former Warren Mayor R. Gregg Reep presented a proclamation from the City of Warren on behalf of Mayor Bryan Martin, who was out of state, and was asked to present a proclamation from Bradley County.  The service was uplifting  to all in attendance.

Power House began in 1932 under the leadership of Elder W. M. Peterson and wife.  The church has been led by Elder LO. C. Cook, Elder James Booker, Sr. and Elder, Bishop R. E. Matheney, Sr.  Many citizens of Warren have called the church home and have worked within the Power House ministry.  A deed to the church property was presented to the church by Potlatch Corporation in 1980.

Elder Yarbrough has served since 2003.  Former Mayor Reep thanked the church, past and present for their Kingdom Work and community work as a body and as individuals.
