Board Hears Annual Report

The Warren School Board met in regular session for the month of October Monday night at 7:00 p.m.

One of the first items of business was the selection of officers for the board.  No changes were made. Jerry Daniels was elected President; Angela Marshall, Secretary; and Dr. Kerry Pennington, Vice President.

In personnel matters, the board approved the move of Phyllis Steadman from part-time employee to full time for the remainder of the 2016-17 school year, due to the increase in student population.  Her salary will be paid through special education.  Cheryl Dunn was hired as ADED instructor at SEACBEC beginning October 13 and ending June 30, 2016.  Shonda Belin was hired as secretary at Brunson for the 2016-17 school year.

In other business, the board approved the Migrant Program, Driver Education Standards of Assurance, and changes to the Band Handbook, as well as the financial report.

Principals from each building and Assistant Superintendent Wardlaw presented the annual report to the public for the 2016-17 school year.

Superintendent Acklin reported that the soccer field at Axley Field is nearing completion.  He also informed the board that the district will be receiving 6 new buses (3 purchased, 3 leased).  He noted that the homecoming festivities were well done and that both he and Coach Hembree thought the crowd for the game was outstanding.  He reminded the board of a board training session is to be held Tuesday night at the Southeast Arkansas Educational Coop.
