Chamber Discusses Organizations Finances

The board members of the Bradley Chamber of Commerce meet for the October 17, 2016 monthly board meeting and spent a great deal of time talking about the financial status of the organization.
Chamber President Mike Nichols told the board that the Chamber is facing financial difficulties and is not currently able to pay the Executive  Director a full monthly salary.  There was considerable back and forth among the members about the need to collect dues, expand the membership and control expenditures.  The 2017 Chamber budget was also discussed.

In other business the board was updated on the financial status of the 2016 Pink tomato Festival.
They were told the festival paid all past and current bills and made a very small profit.  Reports were given on the efforts to remodel the Railroad Depot and ongoing research on how to best handle the old Bryants furniture building.  Grants are pending for the depot and estimates are being prepared for possible removal of the Bryants building.  The Chamber Board will make a final decision on the Bryants building in the future.

Additional updates and reports were given relating to the Bradley County Fair, Christmas plans in Warren and Hermitage, the appointment of new board members, the Santa Train and the future Chamber Banquet.

Chamber Board Chairman Mike Nichols presided and Chamber President Joel Tolefree provided information.
