On Tuesday, December 13 , Jersey Rural Fire Department invites all community members to a Soup Supper in celebration of the community's and fire department's award of the Arkansas Forestry "Firewise" designation. This designation verifies that Jersey Fire District follows "Firewise" principles and practices in reduction of urban interface fires. The urban interface is the area in which homes intersect with wildlands . These intersections provide greater natural fuel sources that contribute to loss lives and properties annually throughout Arkansas and across the country. With education, mitigation and application being the heart of "Firewise", the mere process provides an opportunity for community members to interact with the firefighters who stand guard over them 24 hours a day; 365 days a year and for firefighters to meet the community members they would literally give their very lives for.
