Warren Educators Attend Arkansas Leadership Academy

Warren High School Building Leadership Team (Left to Right):  Katrina Shepherd, Beverly Reep, Tracy Panicola, Gary Jackson, Sandra Halley, and Marilyn Johnson
The Warren High School Leadership Team recently attended a four-day training with the Arkansas Leadership Academy to build leadership skills in five performance areas:

1.  Leading and Managing Change;
2.  Developing Deep Knowledge About Teaching and Learning;
3.  Building and Maintaining Collaborative Relationships;
4.  Building and Sustaining Accountability Systems; and
5.  Living the Vision and Mission.

The mission of the team is to facilitate establishing and communicating clear student-centered goals in an effort to create effective Professional Learning Communities (PLC's) resulting in increased student learning and achievement.

Throughout the four days, the team attended sessions which began at 8:15 A.M. and concluded at 8:30 P.M. each day where they were presented tools for building leadership skills and were given opportunities to practice using these tools.

Upon returning to their building, the Building Leadership Team will work closely with the entire Warren High School faculty to build effective PLC's.

The team will return in July for a two-day follow up and will continue training with the Arkansas Leadership Academy for two years.  In addition, Blaine Alexander, Capacity Builder for the Arkansas Leadership Academy, who has been working along side the Warren High School Leadership Team, will continue to routinely visit the high school to assist with the process.

The Warren High School Leadership Team members, Marilyn Johnson, Gary Jackson, Katrina Shepherd, Sandra Halley, Tracy Panicola, and Beverly Reep, are committed to this process to increase student learning and achievement.
