MONTICELLO, Ark. — Students in Dr. Alayne Zimmerly’s Literacy Across the Curriculum class at the University of Arkansas at Monticello recently collaborated with faculty and students at Monticello Intermediate School to create QR codes for easy access to online books and videos.
MIS teachers Terri Longing and Karen Norton presented a seminar for UAM students on the use of QR (Quick Response) codes, which can be scanned with a mobile device to locate and access everything from videos and books to products and services across a wide spectrum.
UAM literacy students created “book talk” videos to discuss various literary works, uploaded the videos to YouTube, then created a QR code for quick access to the videos. Previously, Zimmerly’s students collaborated with UAM’s Taylor Library and Technology Center by placing QR codes on books for easy access to “book talks.” The library currently has a display of the books and QR codes ordered and completed during the fall semester.
