Warren City Council Meets for Regular July Meeting

The Warren City Council met Monday at 5:30 p.m. in the Municipal Courtroom.  After reviewing the financial statement and hearing regular reports from department heads, the council received information from Mayor Bryan Martin concerning the bids opened last week for the renovation work on the Emergency Services Building.  Mayor Martin told the council that the low bid, by Simmons & Sons, was still above the budget and that his office was in the process of working with the low bidder to get the numbers within budget.

The council also approved the acceptance of a grant for the airport.  The grants includes $28,700 of which 95% was from the federal government and 5% from the state.  These funds will be used to purchase 14 acres of land to extend the taxiway.

The procedures for dealing with dilapodated buildings and overgrown lots was discussed by the council.

The council voted to approve the purchase of a new garbage roll off truck for the transfer stateion at a price of $15,000.

A number of appointments were made to the Planning Commission.  Reappointed for three years were Tommy Burrow, Jenifer Rodriguez, Albert Hammons, and Anthony Hearnsberger.  Michael Alexander was added as a new appointment to the commission.
