BCIDC Changes Name to Bradley County Economic Development Corporation

The Bradley County Industrial Development (BCIDC) Board met on July 30.  As a part of the meeting representatives of Oasis Trading, LLC were in attendance and provided an update on the company's operations in Bradley.  Stanley and Matthew Anderson informed the board that Oasis has been located in Hermitage since 2008 and currently has 29 employees.  They manufacture hardwood crane matts, a small amount of  flooring and provides chips for fuel to other companies.  Most of their logs are purchased in Southeast Arkansas and a small amount in Northern Louisiana.

Matthew Anderson indicated the company has a good dependable work force and are pleased with the quality of work provided.

In other business, the board approved a resolution authorizing the BCIDC to apply for a grant from USDA to develop a small business revenue center.

They also voted to change the organization's name to "Bradley County Economic Development Corporation" (BCEDC).

There was discussion about the need to provide a new access road into the Ouachita Hardwood and Townsend Hardwood plant site located on the northeast side of Warren.  The road would run from the Bypass into the plant.  Bradley Brand Furniture also is located on the site.  Such a road would provide easier and safer access to the businesses without large trucks having to enter the city and go through residential areas.

Mayor Bryan Martin told the board that he has been in contact with management of Ouachita and Townsend as well as Midland Railroad and is working on a plan to construct the new road.  The Mayor indicated he was willing for the City of Warren to build the road.  He stated he felt this could be accomplished at a reasonable cost and hopefully in the near future.

Mayor Martin also informed the BCIDC that he was in discussions with SEACBEC to have the building trades class to build the facilities needed at the new shooting range.  The City would pay for all materials.  By following this plan the city will save money and SEACBEC will have a project to utilize in training students.
