Quorum Court Conducts Business in April Meeting

The Bradley County Quorum Court met Monday, April 15, to conduct the regular monthly meeting.   The justices approved the minutes of the previous meeting, the treasurer's financial report and the sheriff's report.

County Judge Keith Neely informed the court that an application for a Historic Preservation grant has been submitted and that he expects to learn if it is approved in June.  He also reported to the justices the status of the Tulip Creek Bridge grant.

After receiving a comment from one of the justices praising the condition and use of the County Park, Judge Neely told the court that more updates are in store for the park including making the bathrooms handicapped accessible, some new picnic tables, etc.

Under new business, Ordinance 683, an ordinance amending emergency ordinance number 295 to provide that the maximum amount of funds to be placed in the Sheriff's Drug Buy Fund shall not exceed $10,000.

Resolution 226 which provides for the interim filling of a vacancy for the office of Bradley County sheriff during times of emergency was adopted.  The resolution set in place a plan for filling a vacancy in the office of the Sheriff due to death or disability to the degree of inability to perform the duties of office, shall be temporarily filled in the following  line of succession:

a.  Bradley County Chief Deputy Hershel Tillman
b.  Bradley County Sergeant Jason Wallace

Judge Neely informed the board that due to the resignation of Larry Henderson from the Library Board, a vacancy existed.  He suggested  that he be replaced by Cliff Morgan who worked with the Memphis Library prior to returning to Warren.  The court approved the naming of Mr. Morgan to the board.
