Department of Health Hiring Benefit Technicians

(Little Rock)  – Open enrollment for Arkansas’s health benefits exchange will begin on October 1, 2013 with full coverage beginning January 1, 2014. Eligible individuals, regardless of their health status, will have the opportunity to review and select affordable and high quality, private health plans in which to enroll. These health plans will provide preventive services at no cost and will have no limits on annual or lifetime benefits.

In order to assist individuals in finding a plan that meets both their health needs and their budget, the Arkansas Department of Health (ADH), in cooperation with the federal government and the Arkansas Insurance Department, is putting in place a statewide network of in-person assisters (IPAs). These trained IPAs will help guide individuals through the selection, application and enrollment process.
Approximately 300 benefits technicians will be employed by the Health Department across the state to serve as IPA guides and guide supervisors. The benefits technicians will be responsible for conducting public education activities, determining eligibility, assisting consumers in understanding insurance choices and facilitating participant enrollment.
Starting July 15, interested individuals could apply on-line at  HYPERLINK "https://www.ark.org/arstatejobs/index.php" https://www.ark.org/arstatejobs/index.php. For more information on the new insurance program, visit  HYPERLINK "http://hbe.arkansas.gov/" http://hbe.arkansas.gov/.
