Bradley County Medical Center Sees Improved Finances


The Bradley County Medical Center Board was informed during it's regular meeting on November 25th that the financial health of the hospital is improved.  The financial report for October showed a net gain of $11,560.00 and that accounts receivable have decreased by $223,000.00.  Total patience days are up and surgeries have increased 34.67%.   Overall the hospital remains in good financial condition.

In other business the board approved four staff recommendations as follows:
                     David Foscue M.D., Family Medicine-Till January 31, 2014
                     Susan Henry LCSU, Social Services Consultant-Till November, 2015
                     Melanie Hoover, M.D.,Radiology Ass.-Till November,2015
                     Dale Johnston, M.D. Radiology  Ass.-Till November,2015

The Board was informed that Dr. David Foscue would be closing his practice in Warren and moving to the Springdale area.  His credentials at Bradley County Medical Center were approved so he can continue to work Through January, 2014.  According to Hospital Administrator Rex Jones, Dr. Foscue, and others, including our local doctors, are actively seeking another physician and ways to take care of those being treated by Dr. Foscue.  Our other local doctors will take as many as possible.

Mr. Jones then provided an executive update for the board's review.  Chairman Freddie Mobley reported that the hospital received $94,702.49 in sales tax revenue during October and that the sales tax balance stands at over 1.3 million dollars. Mr. Jones again stressed the need to recruit physicians and discussed the need to get the word out on the availability of the Harry H. Stevens Nursing Scholarship fund.  The next board meeting is set for Thursday January 23, 2014.

In a final flurry of activity the Board approved several sets of bylaws and  minutes of The Bradley Medical System, the Bradley Medical Services and the Bradley Medical foundation.  All are part of the legal makeup of the Hospital.

Officers were elected for the next year as follows:
               Chairman of the Board-Freddie Mobley
               Vice Chairman-Lathan Hairston
               Secretary-Gingy Cuthbertson
It was noted that Tiffany Holland has been named the new Chief Nursing Officer and Paulette Tolefree ahs taken over new duties.
