City Council Votes to Build Covered Bleachers At Lady Jacks Softball Field

The Warren City Council met Tuesday evening, November 12, 2013 for their regularly scheduled monthly meeting.

The Council voted to spend $32,800 to build new covered bleachers on both the visitors and home field side of the Warren Softball field at the Warren Baseball/Softball Complex.  The field serves as the home of the Warren Lady Jacks Softball team and is also used during softball tournaments throughout the year.  The winning bid was submitted by Simmons & Sons Construction, LLC.

Other business that was acted upon included the purchasing of a new city garbage truck from Downings Sales and Services for $162,500.

The Council also voted to close several streets for the annual Christmas parade which is to be held December 13.  Aldermen voted to give city workers December 24 and December 25 off for Christmas break and a Christmas bonus.  A resolution was passed honoring former City Council member Edith Eddington and Alderman Marty Reep presented a framed resolution from BCEDC honoring the late Mayor of Hermitage Billy Gorman, which is being given to his family.
