Warren Housing Authority Upgrading Living Conditions

The Warren Public Housing Authority in addition to operating public housing units in Warren is involved in a program that assist low income people in securing new upgraded housing.  Under the program homeowners of substandard housing or worn out mobile homes can get a new home constructed or a new mobile home to live in.  The program is available in Warren, Bradley County and some surrounding counties.

Recently the Authority replaced an old mobile home with a new mobile home for a family in the Banks area.  The new home includes a front porch, a septic tank and is handicapped accessible.
The family had to meet income guidelines and will have to pay back one half of the $90,000.00 cost over 20 years at 1% interest.  The money is made available by Arkansas Development Finance Authority.

To qualify for the program a family must meet income criteria and must also have income to pay back a portion of the total cost.  Several more new homes are planned in and outside the Warren City Limits.  Most of the construction work is completed by local contractors and the materials are locally purchased.
