Warren Police Conduct Ongoing Training

According to Warren Police Chief Randy Peek, the Warren Police Department has several ongoing training programs for all police officers.  Every person hired by the Warren Civil Service Commission must attend the Arkansas Law Enforcement Academy if they are not already certified.  But once a policemen goes to work for the city, the training continues.

Chief Peek said that Sergeant Donald Hollingsworth is the certified training officer for the department and along with other personnel is qualified to teach various training courses.  Some of the training is now available online and can be taught in Warren without having to send staff out of town.

Warren officers receive annual training in the use of lethal force and racial profiling.  Others subjects are taught periodically.  Course material is made available by the police academy and the Criminal Justice Institute, a part of UALR.

According to Chief Peek the city now has cameras in eleven police cars and is always seeking to upgrade and modernize equipment.  He indicated the department appreciates the efforts of Mayor Martin and the City Council in providing the resources needed to manage the police department and keep it up to date in manpower and equipment.
