Progress Being Made On Warren Shooting Range

n the words of Warren Mayor Martin, "It seems like it has taken forever to get this project completed."  The building of the new City of Warren Shooting Range just west of Highway 63 South has been a long hard endeavor but completion is getting close.  Last week construction  crews were busy putting up the four pavilions that will be part of the facility.  The lodge building is nearly finished and the shooting stations will be installed next.  It should not be long till shooters will be able to visit the range and begin firing their weapons.  Word has it that the Warren Youth shooting team recently had the opportunity to inspect the range and although not completed, they experienced the opportunity to do some shooting utilizing their own equipment.

Pictured with this story is Mayor Martin inspecting the work, construction workers welding the pavilions and city employees Bubba York and Ricky Joe Davis reviewing the work to date.  The range will be used by local youth clubs and will be open to the public for shooting.

The lodge was built by the building trade students of Southeast Arkansas Community-Based Education Center and was supervised by Mr. Rusty Densmore.  The City of Warren paid for all materials using grants and city funds.

It took a lot of time to secure a site that would be approved by the Arkansas Game and Fish commission and to get utilities in place.  Mayor Martin refused to give up and with support of the City Council the new facility is about to become a reality.  Warren will have something unique that will be useable by local citizens and should draw visitors to our community.
