Chamber Board Takes Action On Bryant Building

After receiving a detailed report from the Chamber President concerning various options being considered to repair or remove the Bryant building on Main Street, the Bradley County Chamber of Commerce Board voted to seek funding to finance an environmental study of the property to determine what will be required to remove or repair the facility.  It is estimated it will take around $3500.00 to complete the review.  The Chamber is looking at repairing the building in whole or in part or tearing it down in whole or in part and constructing a new building or using the site for other purposes.

The board was updated on development of a downtown historic district and the status of plans for the 59th Bradley County Pink Tomato Festival set for June 6-13, 2015.  The festival is shaping up to be action packed and full of entertainment.

Board member were informed of a Main Street workshop planned for June 2nd and 3rd to be conducted in El Dorado.  There is no cost and it is open to the public.  Chamber President David King and students from  SEACBEC will be attending.  The members were also updated on the Chamber's business directory and website.  Mr. King told the board to go to bradleychamber.com for information and bradleypinktomato.com for festival information.

Mr. King reported that over 600 people attended the Cinco de Mayo activity held recently in the city park.  The Chamber helped implement and sponsor the event.  Plans are already underway for next year.

Mr. King announced that the movie "Captain" which was produced locally will premier July 18th at the Warren Cultural Center.  The movie is about the Bradley family for whom the County is named.  Over 130 people were involved in acting and producing this full length motion picture.  Further information will be forthcoming.
