Arkansas Forestry Commission Invites Statewide Firefighters to Return to Annual Rural Fire Show, Oct. 31

LITTLE ROCK, ARK. –  It’s here again! Statewide fire departments are invited to join us again at the Arkansas Forestry Commission (AFC) Rural Fire Protection (RFP) Program Fire Show on Saturday, October 31st.  Firefighters and families should plan to gather at the RFP headquarters office in Greenbrier from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. The mission of the annual Fire Show is to recognize and thank statewide fire personnel for their partnership in the suppression and prevention of wildfires throughout the year.

This casual event is free to all attendees and is family-friendly; lunch will be provided. Attendees may plan to tour a variety of fire service vendors, enjoy a hot BBQ lunch, network with crews from across the state, connect with new partners/agencies/grant opportunities, and register to win door prizes tailored for firefighters and children - to be awarded throughout the event. A grand prize giveaway will conclude the show at 2:00 p.m. Attendees must be present to win.

“This is our chance to thank Arkansas firefighters and emergency response personnel for the huge way that they serve and protect our state. Since 1979, it’s been our pleasure to serve the training and equipment needs of statewide departments – this annual event is our small way of honoring that long history and continuing relationship,” said John Blackburn, AFC Rural Fire Protection Program Administrator.

Attending crews and firefighters are encouraged to RSVP so that plenty of food is prepared. To RSVP, find out more about sponsoring or supporting the event, or with questions, call (501) 679-3171.

The mission of the Arkansas Forestry Commission is to protect Arkansas’s forests, and those who enjoy them, from wildland fire and natural hazards while promoting rural and urban forest health, stewardship, development, and conservation for all generations of Arkansans.
