Groundbreaking Ceremony for Outdoor Fitness Park Set for October 6

GFWC Warren Woman's Club and the City of Warren invite the public to a groundbreaking ceremony for their new Outdoor Fitness Park at the Warren City Park on Tuesday, October 6 at 10 am.  The new Fitness Park will be located at the north end of the walking trail near West Cedar Street.

After almost 2 years of planning,  Warren Woman's Club and the City of Warren are proud to announce the beginning of construction for the Outdoor Fitness Park.  This addition to the park will provide a free, convenient way for residents of the community to get a great workout.  Nearly half of all Americans get less than the minimum recommended amount of physical activity, and 36% of U.S. adults engage in no leisure activity at all according to the Trust for Public Land.  Providing access to activity is key to improving the health of residents in our community , and is the basis for  this collaboration between the City of Warren and GFWC Warren Woman's Club in funding this project.

The outdoor gym equipment is built to withstand the rigors of weather and vandalism and will include:

chest press/lat pull                                              self-weighted rower

elliptical machine                                                sit up board

exercise bike                                                         ski walker

leg press                                                                step climber

pommel horse                                                     sitting rotator

Tai Chi spinners

The ceremony will occur at the Saline River Train Depot on West Cedar in the event of rain.
