Babysitting Basics and Driver Safety Highlight Upcoming Community Education Courses

MONTICELLO, AR — Non-credit courses in topics ranging from babysitting basics to AARP driver safety will be offered this spring by the University of Arkansas at Monticello’s Department of Community Education.
“In response to recent requests, we have added a babysitting basics class to our schedule,” said Memorie Dickson, program coordinator.  The class will meet in the House Room of the John F. Gibson University Center on Saturday, April 30 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. “Students ages 13 and up will have the opportunity to learn the skills it takes to be the babysitter every parent wants to hire,” Dickson said. Included in the class are American Heart Association Pediatric CPR and First Aid certifications.  Class size is limited to 10 participants so early registration is encouraged.

Other classes being offered this spring include AARP Driver Safety, Ladies Night Out Painting, Plaster Painted Cabinets, Advanced Self Defense for Women, Disc Golf, Sushi, Simple Family Meals, Beginner Jewelry Making, Boating Education and two Thai Cooking classes.

For detailed information about courses, including dates, times and fees, visit the UAM website at www.uamont.edu and click on “Community Education” under “Resources.”  Interested students may register online, call (870) 460-1327, or email Memorie Dickson at Dickson@uamont.edu.
