The board of Bradley County Medical Center meet Thursday April, 28th and took action on several items that will have a major impact on the Warren/Bradley County community in the coming years. After reviewing the hospital's finances and being briefed on home health care and the status of the hospital's sales tax income, the board took action to finalize a contract with Dr. Bradley Biggers that will result in Dr. Biggers locating a family medical practice in Warren.  Dr. Biggers is expected to sign the contract on Friday the 29th and will be moving to Warren in August of 2017.  He will be an employee of the hospital.  Additionally the board voted to put a temporary halt on plans to conduct new renovations to the hospital and to begin the process of constructing a new clinic for use by Dr. Biggers.  The clinic will be located on Central Street just across the street from the emergency room.  Hospital Administrator Rex Jones was instructed to move a rapidly as possible to get the process of building the clinic underway.

In other business the board voted to change to a new employee health insurance plan. They also approved eight individuals for hospital privileges   Included were:
Albert Alexander, M.D., RAPA
Remel Buslig, M.D., ER/ESS

The board was informed that the hospital now owns the Littlefield property adjacent to the hospital.  No decision has been made as to how it will be used at this time.  The board continues to acquire adjoining property as it becomes available to have room for expansion and improvements.

Administrator Rex Jones gave updates on staffing for the emergency room, the new phone service and the annual health fair.  He also told the board that a full time speech therapist will join Legacy Rehab on June 1st.  He informed them that surgeons Dr. John Jerius and Dr. Michelle Pittman will be conducting a clinic one day a week in the offices located on N. Bragg Street and will be providing surgery as needed at Bradley County Medical Center.  For an appointment call 870-460-3515. The surgeons will be in the clinic across the street from the Brunson Medical Complex.

According to Mr. Jones the hospital made a profit in March, 2016 of about $300,000.00 and is up around $600,000.00 for the current fiscal year.  This means the facility is on solid financial footing at this time.
