Open Horizons Conference Underway

A large number of individuals, most of whom are employees of the Southeast Arkansas human Development Center along with other Centers form throughout Arkansas and employees of the Arkansas Department of Human Services, gathered at the HDC in Warren on March, 31st to receive training and motivation for the important jobs they are tasked with carrying out.  The program is a two day event that is in its twentieth year of existence.

The session was kicked off by Jimmie Sue Wade, an employee of the center and was followed by a welcome and comments of encouragement from Gregg Reep, sales manager for salineriverchronicle.com, who is also a member of the volunteer council for the Southeast HDC.  Remarks were made by Melissa Stone, Director of DDS and a presentation was made by Glen Clark, Superintendent of the Southeast Arkansas Human Development Center.  Mr. Clark talked about the need for all center employees being "uncommon servants" and meeting the needs of the clients.  He did an outstanding job.

The meeting consisted of workshops and additional speakers over the two day period, all aimed at providing required training and staff development.  There were in excess of 70 participants registered for and in attendance.  Tours of the Southeast Arkansas Human Development Center were provided for non local employees.
