The Bradley County Health Fair Planning Committee and the Bradley County Hometown Health Coalition had a joint meeting November 4, 2016 at the Bradley County Medical Center. Plans for the April 29, 2017 Health Fair were discussed in detail. The Fair will be held at the Warren YMCA. April 29th is also the National YMCA Healthy Kids day. There will be vendors inside the multipurpose room, the other areas of the YMCA facility and in the outfield of the baseball park.
There will be health screenings, stamp out smoking information and information on carbon monoxide. Stroke prevention will be stressed.
The Donald W. Reynolds YMCA of Warren and Bradley County is considering a 5K run and a kids 2 mile run/walk. There will be games teaching healthy lifestyles and good nutrition. T-Shirts will be available. A concession stand will be manned by the YMCA,
Vendors are being notified and anyone interested in taking part should contact Tiffany Holland, RN, Chief of Nursing at the Bradley County Medical Center at 870-226-8440. Anyone interested in volunteering should also contact Tiffany.
The Hometown Health Coalition discussed plans for a community garden on Bragg Street next to Kids First and the Bradley County Health Department. The Warren School District is being consulted about the possibility of students assisting with the garden.
The two organizations plan another joint meeting December 2, 2016 at the Brunson Building conference room on North Bragg Street. the meeting will begin at 12:00 noon.
