The Bradley County Industrial Development Corporation met Monday, May 21 in the BCIDC building with the following board members present:  John Lipton, Hugh Allen Quimby, Freddie Mobley, Carlton Davis, Sue Wagnon, Boyce Hamlet, Dr. David Foscue, Stelle Hamilton, and Murray Claycomb.  Also in attendance were Bob Milton, Charles Simpson, Linda Stucks, Acie Guy Johnson, and Donna Lawhon.

After approving the minutes and the financial report, the board took up old business.  A contract between the City of Hermitage and the BCIDC is being written.  When this contract is signed, the City of Hermitage will become a member of BCIDC.

John Lipton introduced Donna Lawhon as a new employee of BCIDC.  Mrs. Lawhon gave a brief work history and expressed her willingness to contribute to BCIDC.

Mr. Acie Guy Johnson, owner of Orthoflex Saddle Works, presented a synopsis of his entrepreneurial background and the progress of Orthoflex Saddle Works to the board.  He listed several of his past and current businesses:  Ben Pearson, Himalayan Ind., fire arms companies and a laser company.  He explained how he acquired Orthoflex Saddle Works and how how he has stabilized the grown company.  He told the board how he used his laser company to redesign Orthoflex's manufacturing equipment to make it more efficient.  He told the board about the difficulties he sometimes faces in obtaining raw materials needed for his business and about improvements he has made to the building.  In addition, he told the board that he has between 35,000 and 50,000 square feet of available space for use by a new business.

It was noted that Mr. Keith Chambers will represent Bradley Brand Furniture during the June board meeting.

John Lipton was given a document by David King of the Bradley County Chamber of Commerce explaining the Arkansas Downtown Network, a program that works to revitalize downtown communities.
