Tornado Sirens in Warren

Tuesday evening, January 29, Bradley County was, for a short period of time, placed under a tornado warning.  The storm, located by radar, was on the eastern boundary of the county and moved across Drew County.  Based upon Bradley County being officially placed under a warning, the City of Warren's tornado warning sirens were activated.

City officials urge all residents to be alert and pay attention when severe weather threatens.  City policy is to sound the sirens anytime the county is placed under a warning by the National Weather Service regardless of the location of the storm.  This assures that people in Warren know a storm is in the area and gives them opportunity to seek the best shelter available and to utilize the media to gain more specific information.  It also warns people not to travel.

Warren has four sirens strategically placed to provide notice to all parts of the Warren city limits.   The sirens can not always be heard indoors due to other noise but should be discernible outdoors and inside most buildings.  The sirens are one method of warning but always be alert and listen to radio, tv, internet sources or other sources of information.

The sirens are tested each Friday at noon unless the weather is threatening or extremely cloudy.  Always take the sirens seriously and be alert.
