Hermitage Water/Sewer/Street Operator Resigns


It was reported to the Hermitage City Council during their regular monthly meeting that Mike Wilkerson has resigned form his position as Water/Sewer/Street Operator.  He resigned May 15th after giving two weeks notice.  He and his family are moving.  The Council was also informed that Tonya Kendrix is interested in the city recorder position.

Police Chief Ben Poole gave the police report and at the request of Alderman Randy York went over the procedures used by the department for traffic stops when a gun is present in the vehicle being stopped.  Sixteen citations were issued during the month of April.

Revised ordinance #107-A was approved allowing persons to be hired for contract labor or as city employees who are related to to existing city employees or city council members.  The council then approved the Birch Street sewer replacement job and awarded the work to R & R Contracting in the  amount of $26,207.50.  General Improvement funds from the state and money trasfered form the sewer depreciaiton fund will be used .

The Aldermen then discussed the opening for a new Water/Sewer/Street Operator.  Several people have applied for the job.  The Council did not make a decision and is still accepting applicants.

In other action the Council voted to purchase a new electric hot water heater form Mitchells for a cost of $306.59.  It will replace the propane heater.
