In the superintendent's report, Mrs. Johnson reported that a total of 123 students have enrolled in the district through school choice.  Two are coming from Hermitage, eight from Cleveland County, and three from Fordyce.  Seven will be attending Eastside, one will be at the Middle School, and five will attend the high school.  Due to the district's cap, one first grader's application is on hold to see if the district has room for another 1st grader.

She told the board that SubTeach will hold sub training in Warren Friday, July 25, from 9:00 - noon.

She reminded the board that Saturday, August 2 and Sunday August 3 will be the sales tax holiday in the state for school supplies and other school-related items such as clothing.

Administrators and instructional facilitators attended the 2nd annual customized learning summit last week to learn from and share with other districts across the nation who are working toward building a standards-based system focused on customizing instruction.  Several who attended shared briefly their experience at the summit.  WHS Principal Gary Jackson told the board that a teacher swap between SBE schools for 3 to 4 weeks had been discussed.  Mrs. Weaver pointed out that everyone may be doing things a bit differently but that all were learner focused.  She and the Eastside assistant principal have been asked to skype with other districts.
